Frequently Asked Questions
Q.What do I get for the 30% commission to Interactive Touch?
A.Interactive Touch has created a very unique infrastructure, which allows authors to make books quickly and easily. We eliminate virtually all of the risk in publishing an interactive book including development cost, app approval, and development time. We also provide the author with a marketplace to sell books.
Q.What if I want to publish a hard copy version of my book?
A.We encourage our authors to pursue publishing hard copy as well as on the Kindle, Nook, and iBooks in addition to the interactive versions we help you create. Remember, we want your app to enjoy the widest readership possible. We only require that authors do not publish the same content on other interactive app platforms while under agreement with us.
Q.What if I want to just send ITB all of my illustrations and have them make a book for me?
A.You may elect to pay ITB a nominal fee of $50 per page, and we will do all of the book fabrication on your behalf. This will include any necessary adjustments to the art to make them compatible for interactivity by adding sound effects and recording voiceovers. While developers typically charge around $20,000 per app, and take up to eight-weeks just to develop, ITB promises a small fraction of this cost and quicker turnaround time, so we can help you reach your market faster.
Q.Why should I sign up with ITB instead of other children’s book developers?
A.ITB has an expert team committed to the success of our authors. We work extremely fast, and can implement new features in a matter of days, sometimes even hours! We also deliver unprecedented speed in book publishing. The time between finishing your illustrations and selling your first book will likely be on the order of days. Nobody else can promise you that! We have a unique model, which does not require Apple to approve individual books. And our book creation interface is so easy to use that you will spend much more time doing what you do best–creating awesome illustrations and narrative–than you will waste on technical processes.
Q.I’m concerned about the visibility of my book on the App store. Wouldn’t it be better for me to sell my book independently?
A.The App store is a jungle, and with over 60,000 book apps, it is extremely difficult to have a successful app. The average app only gets 12,000 downloads in its lifetime. The Interactive Touch Books app already has over 250,000 downloads and is consistently ranked in the Top 100 of book apps on the iPad, so plenty of people will see your book. As more authors use our online wizard to develop engaging content, Interactive Touch Books will quickly become the place parents look to for interactive books and games.
You will also be provided with your own online bookstore so that you can market your content directly to your followers on your blog, facebook, and twitter. Users will buy your books online and they will automatically appear in their library on the device.
There is no waiting for approval from Apple, nor limit on the number of books you can publish.
Do you have illustrations for 6 books read to go? Great, get started today and you can be selling the first one by tomorrow. At ITB, we want all of our authors to be successful, and we believe creating a marketplace focused on interactive children’s books will be much more successful than publishing hundreds of individual apps — all of which may get lost in the App store jungle or never make it there because of hangups in the approval process.
